Know the official format

The Category B test has 45 questions, 90 minutes and a pass mark of 38 correct answers. Each question has one correct option. You can revisit questions and change answers before time runs out.

Read the task before looking for an answer

During practice, pause after reading the question and name the task in a few words: identify a sign, choose an action or assess a situation. This gives you a clear target before the options compete for your attention.

Notice words such as “must”, “may” and “not”. If you overlook one of them, you may answer a different question from the one on screen. When two options seem plausible, read the wording again before deciding.

  • State what the question is asking.
  • Separate the information given from assumptions you added.
  • Choose the option you can support with an explanation.

Practise a useful second look

A second reading should have a purpose. Ask which detail made you uncertain and what would settle it. Repeating the whole question without identifying the difficulty can leave you equally unsure.

In an ordinary study session, keep a note of uncertain answers even when they turn out to be correct. A lucky choice and an understood answer can produce the same score, but they need different follow-up.

Use a timer to learn about your habits

Try a short practice session with a timer, then another session where you explain each answer aloud. Compare where your time goes: reading vocabulary, inspecting a picture or checking a rule. Use that observation to choose your next topic.

The app’s short rounds are learning exercises. Their scores and length do not reproduce or certify an official exam result. Look for explanations you can give without opening the answer, and check unresolved rules with an official source.

Finish with one clear next step

Choose one question you answered slowly and one you answered incorrectly. Write the reason for each difficulty, then practise a different question on the same topic. This gives your next session a specific goal instead of another score to chase.
